November 2012

Charles E. "Pat" Pattillo, III passed away on November 26. Pat had practiced architecture in the firm of Gordon, Drake & Pattillo and Drake/Pattillo & Associates, Architects from 1962-1994. His love of family and friends, respect for his community and its traditions and his influence on this firm cannot be overstated. He will be missed. His obituary can be viewed here.

Burnett Residence Remodel
August 2012

The remodeling of the Burnett Residence in historic Avondale just south of downtown Jacksonville was featured in the August edition of Jacksonville Magazine. The project, designed by R. Dean Scott, Architect, Inc. in 2011 involved the conversion of a two-story duplex into a single family residence. Construction was completed in the Spring of 2012. Solantic Walk-in Urgent care

Auld White

April 2012

R. Dean Scott, Architect, Inc. has completed design of a 3,500 square foot free standing shell building located on SR 200 at Nassau Center Court in Yulee, Florida. The building will be the future home of Solantic Baptist Urgent Care. The new center will replace the smaller Solantic facility which was formerly located inside the Yulee Wal-Mart. That center was also designed by RDSA. Auld & White Constructors will provide construction services for the shell building.

Episcopal Children's Services
January 2012

Construction of the new Early Head Start facility for Episcopal Children’s Services was completed in December of 2011 and the facility opened for students in January 2012. The project was designed by R. Dean Scott, Architect, Inc. and is the fifth Head Start / Early Head Start facility designed by the firm for ECS. The building is approximately 5,000 sf in area and features six classrooms, a multi-purpose room, break room and administrative space. The site improvements included a new, fenced playground, gravel parking area, landscaping and lighting. The facility is located on West 5th Street in Jacksonville adjacent to the KIPP School. Building services were provided by Jason Hursey Construction.

Baptist Primary Care
December 2011

R. Dean Scott, Architect, Inc. completed the design of new medical offices for Baptist Primary Care. The 4,148 sf facility is located in the Bartram Park retail center on Old St. Augustine Road near I-95 in Jacksonville. The location will be home for the practices of Tessa Ricci, M.D. and Carolyn Tran, M.D. The facility includes eight exam rooms, two labs, nurses’ station, waiting area and offices. Construction services will be provided by Towers Contracting of Northeast Florida. Opening is scheduled for April 2012.

Lee High School
September 2011

Ribbon cutting ceremony was held for new Classroom Building at Robert E. Lee High School No. 33 in Jacksonville, Florida on September 19, 2011. The event was a celebration and open house for the facility which houses Lee’s Science and Engineering Academy Magnet (SEAM). The building, designed by R. Dean Scott, Architect, Inc., is three stories and approximately 42,000 sf. It contains two engineering labs, three science labs, an art lab, skills development labs, general classrooms and administrative space. The project was substantially completed in August 2011 and opened for the 2011-2012 academic year. Danis provided construction management services for the $10 million project.

Breaking Ground ContractingAssociated Builders and Contractors August 2011

Breaking Ground Contracting earned an “Award of Excellence” from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Florida First Coast Chapter. The award was part of ABC’s 2011 Excellence in Construction program. The project recognized was Sanctuary Remodeling at Lakewood Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, Florida. R. Dean Scott, Architect, Inc. designed the remodeling which included the chancel, choir loft, portions of the nave and narthex areas.

Episcopal High School
August 2011

New science lab and renovated mini-theater open for 2011-2012 academic year at Episcopal High School in Jacksonville, Florida. R. Dean Scott, Architect, Inc. (RDSA) designed the new science laboratory which combined two former general classrooms into one laboratory. The lab features built in laboratory casework with individual workstations as well as an area for group instruction. RDSA also designed the first phase of renovations to the mini-theater, Episcopal’s black box performance space. The renovations included new wall finishes, new railings, lighting and electrical upgrades. Elkins Constructors provided construction services for both projects.
